Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, India's chosen theme for its ongoing G20 Presidency, traces its roots back to the ancient Sanskrit text Hitopadesha, with its meaning translating to "the whole earth is one family." This profound concept served as the central idea behind the design of the recently constructed Bharat Mandapam, which is set to host the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi.

The inauguration of Bharat Mandapam, a remarkable structure situated within the Pragati Maidan complex, took place on July 26, and the facility is now undergoing final touches before being handed over to the Ministry of External Affairs for the Summit. The grand architecture of the convention center, worth Rs 2,700 crores, consists of four storeys adorned with 30-odd artworks and decorative items representing the country's major art forms, textile traditions, and yoga practices.

Among these exhibits, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam stands out prominently on Level 1, specifically in the arrival area. Its textual representation in numerous major languages from across the world adorns an entire wall, meticulously crafted in 3D letters with a brass finish, forming concentric circles around a bindu, symbolizing the Earth. This artistic portrayal of the profound ancient Indian concept resonates on a global scale, underscoring the importance of unity, harmony, and brotherhood among all nations.

"The work highlights this ancient Indian concept that in today’s context is globally relevant; it defines our concept of brotherhood," reads a plaque dedicated to the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam artwork. This display serves as a constant reminder of the ideals and principles that India upholds as it takes on the responsibility of hosting the G20 Summit, where world leaders gather to discuss and address global challenges and opportunities.

Through the artworks and decorative pieces featured in the convention center, India aims to depict its traditional wisdom while also projecting its modern image as a nation at the forefront of innovation and development. India's commitment to renewable energy sources, space exploration endeavors, and active involvement in global affairs exemplifies its role as a leading nation in world matters.

The amalgamation of traditional Indian heritage and contemporary progress encapsulates the essence of India's participation in the G20 Presidency and showcases the nation's readiness to contribute to shaping a better future for the entire world. The Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ideology, resonating with visitors and dignitaries alike, serves as a testament to India's vision of fostering unity and cooperation on the global stage for the collective benefit of all nations.
